Travel to the stunning Orange River, which serves as Namibia’s and South Africa’s natural border. You’ll travel through Namaqualand along the route, which is well-known for its late July through mid-September wildflower blooms. The Orange River, which is the longest in South Africa at 2200 km, was formerly known as the Gariep River. It originates at a high altitude in Lesotho’s Drakensberg mountain range and empties into the Atlantic Ocean in Alexander Bay, South Africa.

There’s an opportunity to go on an optional canoe trip on the Orange River this morning. Discovering the magnificence of this area is best done while floating gently down the stream. Proceed westward into Namibia’s desert region in the direction of Fish River Canyon. One of the world’s longest canyons, Fish River Canyon is about 160 km long and 500 m deep. During every season, there are incredible photo opportunities here as the granite rocks’ hues shift with the setting sun.

As you make your way into Namibia’s famous dunes, prepare yourself for a long journey day. Before tomorrow’s bush camp, you will have the chance to visit a market or store to restock on supplies. After you get there, stretch your legs and enjoy the breathtaking views of the desert. You will be in the most well-known region of the Namib Desert, surrounded by enormous dune fields, the most impressive of which are located close to Sesriem Canyon. Get a good night’s sleep in order to be ready for your hike tomorrow morning.

Get up before the sun comes up and climb the dunes to see a breathtaking sunrise over a huge sand sea. The hues transform as the sun rises above the horizon, and the breathtaking sights create an amazing backdrop for your brunch. The dunes itself are home to a wide variety of animals and are among the tallest in the world. After that, hop in the back of a pickup truck and head to the amazing salt and clay pan that’s close by, known as Sossusvlei. You’ll have time to investigate this enigmatic freak of the desert. Travel by car to your bush camp in the middle of the Namib Desert in the afternoon.

Proceed to Swakopmund now. Swakopmund is a great location for outdoor activities because it is surrounded on three sides by the vast Namib Desert dune fields and on the fourth side by the Atlantic Ocean. The township is a nice area to just stroll about and explore because of its intriguing German-Namibian atmosphere.

If you have any free time today, you should definitely take advantage of the fantastic souvenir shopping and admire the Germanic architecture. You can visit the Swakopmund Museum by stopping by the lighthouse if you’re in the mood for some history and culture. Experienced individuals and those seeking excitement may choose to explore the numerous outdoor pursuits available — this town is the epicenter for adventure sports in Namibia.

With one more day to spend in this lovely beach town, you may read, unwind, and go swimming. As an alternative, you can travel farther, possibly to the Camel Farm or the Okakambe Trails, which are both situated in the same region around 12 km east of the town. A camel or horse ride is a fantastic opportunity to get a new perspective on the desert.

Today, go to Spitzkoppe. As you cruise up the Atlantic Coast, take in the sight, sound, and scent of thousands of olive-colored seals congregating along the coasts of Cape Cross. Explore one of Namibia’s most breathtaking locations, the untamed highlands surrounding Spitzkoppe Mountain, popularly known as the Matterhorn of Namibia. There are some great hikes and guided tours across the area, which is rich in plant life and even has some bush paintings can be found, even if you shouldn’t attempt to get to the summit. The Spitzkoppe is renowned for both its breathtaking beauty and the thousands of extant Bushmen rock paintings. From your bush camp this evening, make sure to see the sunset as the surrounding area is renowned to turn brilliant orange and crimson.

Set out this morning for Etosha National Park, making any necessary stops at a market, store, or ATM. One of the best locations in the world to see wildlife is Etosha. This area is home to a diverse array of wildlife found in southern Africa, which includes all of the large carnivores as well as five uncommon or endangered species: black rhino, roan antelope, black-faced impala, Hartmann’s mountain zebra, and the small Damara dik-dik. Depending on availability, guests might choose to go on an evening wildlife drive tonight before spending the night at the especially magnificent Okaukuejo Camp. Overlooking a floodlit waterhole that is frequented by numerous species both during the day and at night, lies the camp.

Enjoy a game drive at Etosha National Park for the entire day. Large, thinly vegetated pans and man-made waterholes make game viewing in the park reasonably easy. Although it is difficult to view through the bushes around the pans, there are usually enough clearings, pans, and waterholes to allow for occasional sightings. Because poaching has been prevented in Namibia’s game reserves, a sizable population of antelope, elephants, and other herbivores call these areas home. You will be spending the night in Namutoni Camp this evening.

Proceed to your tent, which is 50 miles outside of Grootfontein, after leaving Etosha. This is where you’ll be based when you go see the San people tomorrow. Once in your camp, unwind with your fellow travelers, stretch your legs, and maybe sip on a refreshing beverage.

Travel 180 km in total round trip to see the San people. Along with some of the tribe, you will go on walks as they tell you stories and sing you songs. You will quickly learn that they speak a distinctive and intriguing dialect of Khoisan, which is referred to as a “clicking” language. With an estimated 20,000 years of history, the San are the oldest ethnic group in Namibia. They are from southern Africa. Only 2000 of them still live according to their original ways; there are about 30,000 of them in Namibia. The San live in tune with their surroundings and have a profound grasp of nature and ecology.

Proceed to Bagani, where you will spend the night in camp. There are many pleasant places to unwind and take in the atmosphere in Bagani, a small, welcoming village, as the sun sets over the Okavango River. Hippopotamuses might even be seen emerging from the water to graze. The homestead of the indigenous Mbukushu rulers is located here.

Travel southward along the Okavango Panhandle, the narrowest portion of the delta, to Sepopa after crossing the border into Botswana. Here, you’ll abandon your car and travel (about 4 hours) by boat through the delta to your bush camp on an island remote from civilization. You’ll hear hippos periodically breaking the tranquil scene with their endearing grunts as you punt past birds and lily pads.

Proceed to your mokoro adventure after breakfast. A native tribesman poles each mokoro, a small dugout canoe, carrying two passengers over the winding waterways. Join your guide for a quick nature walk to explore the stunning surrounds, learn about the history of the area, and keep an eye out for various bird species and occasionally, elephants.
Following your tour of the delta, take a boat back to Sepopa Camp, a rather civilized location with hot showers, a swimming pool, and a small bar.

We’re going to be driving for quite a while, starting this morning from Bagani. Have no fear—the amazing Chobe National Park will be well worth the trip. Goma border is the entry point into Botswana and the park. Once you’re there, one of the best ways to see some of the park’s many wildlife is to take an optional cruise down the Chobe River.

Take a game drive early in the morning. As you explore the park, you’ll get the chance to get up close and personal with the animals. If you’re lucky, you might see a range of animals, including buffalo, lions, and other rare birds. Keep an eye out for elephants; Botswana’s first national park is well-known for having a large population of animals. They frequently appear in the Chobe River while swimming. In addition, the river draws crocodiles, hippos, and buffalos who enjoy lounging by the water’s side to soak up the sun. Take an optional afternoon game drive into the national park or go on a boat tour to see these incredible animals from a different perspective.

After crossing the border into Zimbabwe, proceed to Victoria Falls, where you will have lunch along the banks of the Zambezi river.

One of the Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world. A staggering curtain of water that cascades 108 metres into a narrow gorge below. In the wet season, the spray created can rise up an incredible 400 metres and the falls become an impressive raging torrent. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit this dream destination in the heart of Africa.
