10-Day Tour to Discover the Majesty of Morocco

The city of Casablanca is a melting pot of diverse influences; the Moors, Moroccans, and French have each contributed, rendering it an intriguing destination for our city tour. The minaret of the Hassan II Mosque stands out as a particularly striking coastal landmark. Additionally, the Corniche beachside area offers picturesque views of the sea. In the afternoon, we'll journey to Rabat for a city tour. Highlights include the elaborately adorned Mohammed V Mausoleum and the 12th-century Tour Hassan.

This morning, we depart from Rabat towards the Imperial City of Meknes. Once boasting a sultan's palace rivaling Versailles, only the Old Granaries and stables remain today due to a powerful earthquake. As we explore these remnants, one can envision the former grandeur of the entire complex. Our journey continues past the Holy City of Moulay Idriss, a revered pilgrimage site named after the great-grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. Later, we proceed to the Roman city of Volubilis, an extensive archaeological site famous for its remarkably preserved mosaic floors. Despite only a quarter of the site being unearthed thus far, we'll gain captivating insights into Roman life in North Africa.

This morning, we explore the ancient Imperial City in Morocco, starting with the Medina Fez El Bali, also known as Old Fez, where narrow winding lanes have been bustling with artisans and merchants for almost a thousand years. We'll then venture through the intricate streets to the Karaouine quarters, which serve as the spiritual center of the city.

Les Merinides Hotel, Fez (3.5-star)

A day of diversity awaits us as we pause at Ifrane, a verdant town established in the 20th century and favored as a ski resort for the wealthy during winter. We then journey onward to the Middle Atlas Mountains and Erfoud. Our day concludes with an excursion in a 4WD vehicle to the border of the scorching Sahara desert.

Kasbah Hotel Xaluca, Erfoud (4-star)

A wonderful day awaits as we make our way along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. En route we’ll make a stop at the Todgha Gorge. At nearly 400 metres in height in places, it’s spectacular - a true highlight of our Morocco tours. We’ll have time to explore the canyon before continuing on our way.

Hotel Xaluca, Dades (4-star)

This morning we visit the wonderful Kasbah Taourirt and then head to UNESCO-protected Ait Benhaddou. You may recognise this impressive fortified city, which can be traced back to the 11th century. It has been used as a set in ‘Gladiator’ and a number of other films in recent decades. We continue onwards, and ascend the High Atlas Mountains to the breathtaking Tizi n’Tichka pass - the highest in the country - before arriving at our hotel in Marrakech.

On our city sightseeing tour this morning we’ll experience vibrant sights so evocative of Marrakech. We’ll see the Medina, a labyrinth of small alleys famed for its stalls and souks, and Djemaa El Fna Square, a large open space where snake charmers and medicine men get to work. Exploring this captivating city is a high point of our holidays in Morocco.
